This fuel system is designed with consideration for global environment protection to ensure safety at a collision, reduce weight, and improve reliability and quality. This system has the following features:
- A quick-joint connector of a plastic tube is used for the fuel high-pressure hose in the engine compartment to reduce the permeation of fuel evaporative emission.
- The surface of under floor fuel line pipes is coated with 1-mm thickness of resin to improve resistance to corrosion and chipping.
- A return less fuel system eliminates returned fuel from the engine. The heat that fuel receives from the engine is reduced, minimising fuel temperature in the fuel tank and controlling the amount of evaporated gas.
- The activated charcoal of fuel vapour canister is modified for downsizing, weight saving and better performance.

The Multipoint Fuel Injection System consists of sensors which detect the engine conditions, the engine-ECU which controls the system based on signals from these sensors, and actuators which operate under the control of the engine-ECU. The engine-ECU carries out activities such as fuel injection control, idle speed control and ignition timing control. In addition, the engine-ECU is equipped with several diagnosis modes which simplify troubleshooting when a problem develops.

FUEL INJECTION CONTROL
The injector drive times and injection timing are controlled so that the optimum air/fuel mixture is supplied to the engine to correspond to the continually-changing engine operation conditions.
A single injector is mounted at the intake port of each cylinder. Fuel is sent under pressure from the fuel tank by the fuel pump, with the pressure being regulated by the fuel pressure regulator. The fuel thus regulated is distributed to each of the injectors.
Fuel injection is normally carried out once for each cylinder for every two rotations of the crankshaft. The firing order is 1-3-4-2. This is called sequential fuel injection. The engine-ECU provides a richer air/fuel mixture by carrying out "open-loop" control when the engine is cold or operating under high load conditions in order to maintain engine performance. In addition, when the engine is warm or operating under normal conditions, the engine-ECU controls the air/fuel mixture by using the oxygen sensor signal to carry out "closed-loop" control in order to obtain the theoretical air/fuel mixture ratio that provides the maximum cleaning performance from the three way catalyst.

SELF-DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
- When an abnormality is detected in one of the sensors or actuators related to emission control, the engine warning lamp (check engine lamp) illuminates as a warning to the driver.
- When an abnormality is detected in one of the sensors or actuators, a diagnosis code corresponding to the abnormality is output.
- The RAM data inside the engine-ECU that is related to the sensors and actuators can be read by means of the M.U.T.-III. In addition, the actuators can be force-driven under certain circumstances.

An injector is an injection nozzle with the electromagnetic valve that injects fuel based on the injection signal sent by engine-ECU. 1 injector is installed in the inlet manifold of each cylinder and fixed to the delivery pipe. When electricity flows through the solenoid coil, the needle gets sucked in. The needle gets pulled till the fully open position so that the injection hole is fully open and the fuel gets injected.
Voltage from the battery gets applied from the engine control relay to the injector and up to the engine-ECU. Engine-ECU turns ON its power transistor and prepares the injector’s ground circuit. Thus, current flows through the injector while power transistor is ON and the injector injects fuel.

FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MULTIPOINT FUEL INJECTION (MPI)<4B1>
Fuel injection volume is regulated to obtain the optimum air-fuel ratio in accordance with the constant minute changes in engine driving conditions. Fuel injection volume is controlled by injector drive time (injection time). There is a prescribed basic drive time that varies according to the engine speed and intake air volume. Engine-ECU adds prescribed compensations to this basic drive time according to conditions such as the intake air temperature and engine coolant temperature to decide injection time. Fuel injection is done separately for each cylinder and is done once in two engine rotations.

ENGINE WARNING LAMP (CHECK ENGINE LAMP)

When the abnormal condition occurs with respect to the items of Multipoint Fuel Injection (MPI) system shown in the table, the engine warning lamp is illuminated. When the lamp remains illuminated after the engine start, or when the lamp is illuminated while the engine is running, check the diagnosis code output. There are two methods for checking the indicator lamp burn out: When the ignition switch is in ON position, the indicator lamp is illuminated, and then extinguished few seconds later. When the ignition switch is in ON position and the engine starts, the indicator lamp is extinguished.
note When the CVT-ECU detects malfunctions related to the CVT, the engine warning lamp is also illuminated.
ENGINE WARNING LAMP INSPECTION ITEMS
After the engine-ECU has detected a malfunction, the engine warning lamp illuminates when the engine is next turned on and the same malfunction is re-detected. However, for items marked with a "*1" in the diagnosis code number column, the engine warning lamp illuminates only on the first detection of the malfunction.
The codes marked with a "*2" in the diagnosis code number column have the following two conditions for illuminating the engine warning lamp.
- In case that the misfire causing the damaged catalyst is detected, the engine warning lamp is illuminated at the time.
- In case that the misfire deteriorating the exhaust gas is detected, the engine warning lamp is illuminated when the same malfunction is redetected after the next engine start.
caution The engine warning lamp continuously illuminates when the engine-ECU malfunctions.

FREEZE-FRAME DATA
When the engine-ECU detects a malfunction and stores a diagnosis code, it also stores a current status of the engine. This function is called "Freeze frame data". By analyzing this "Freeze frame" data with the M.U.T.-III, an effective troubleshooting can be performed.
The display items of freeze frame data are shown below.
When the Engine-ECU detects a problem and stores the resulting diagnosis code, the engine condition at that time is also memorized. The M.U.T.-III can then be used to analyze this data in order to increase the effectiveness of troubleshooting. The freeze-frame data display items are given below.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
This function exercises control, by predetermined control logic, to keep a condition in which a vehicle can be safely driven when main sensor failures are detected by the diagnosis function.
Injector - Does not control exhaust gas recirculation.

An injector is an injection nozzle with the electromagnetic valve that injects fuel based on the injection signal sent by engine-ECU. 1 injector is installed in the inlet manifold of each cylinder and fixed to the delivery pipe. When electricity flows through the solenoid coil, the needle gets sucked in. The needle gets pulled till the fully open position so that the injection hole is fully open and the fuel gets injected.
Voltage from the battery gets applied from the engine control relay to the injector and up to the engine-ECU. Engine-ECU turns ON its power transistor and prepares the injector’s ground circuit. Thus, current flows through the injector while power transistor is ON and the injector injects fuel.

FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MULTIPOINT FUEL INJECTION (MPI) <6B3>
Fuel injection volume is regulated to obtain the optimum air-fuel ratio in accordance with the constant minute changes in engine driving conditions. Fuel injection volume is controlled by injector drive time (injection time). There is a prescribed basic drive time that varies according to the engine speed and intake air volume. Engine-ECU adds prescribed compensations to this basic drive time according to conditions such as the intake air temperature and engine coolant temperature to decide injection time. Fuel injection is done separately for each cylinder and is done once in two engine rotations.

Engine-ECU has been provided with the following functions for easier system inspection.

ENGINE WARNING LAMP (CHECK ENGINE LAMP)

When the abnormal condition occurs with respect to the items of Multipoint Fuel Injection (MPI) system shown in the table, the engine warning lamp is illuminated. When the lamp remains illuminated after the engine start, or when the lamp is illuminated while the engine is running, check the diagnosis code output. There are two methods for checking the indicator lamp burn out: When the ignition switch is in ON position, the indicator lamp is illuminated, and then extinguished few seconds later. When the ignition switch is in ON position and the engine starts, the indicator lamp is extinguished.
note When the A/T-ECU detects malfunctions related to the automatic transmission, the engine warning lamp is also illuminated.
ENGINE WARNING LAMP INSPECTION ITEMS
note After the engine-ECU has detected a malfunction, the engine warning lamp illuminates when the engine is next turned on and the same malfunction is re-detected. However, for items marked with a "*1" in the diagnosis code number column, the engine warning lamp illuminates only on the first detection of the malfunction.
note The codes marked with a "*2" in the diagnosis code number column have the following two conditions for illuminating the engine warning lamp.
- In case that the misfire causing the damaged catalyst is detected, the engine warning lamp is illuminated at the time.
- In case that the misfire deteriorating the exhaust gas is detected, the engine warning lamp is illuminated when the same malfunction is redetected after the next engine start.
caution The engine warning lamp continuously illuminates when the engine-ECU malfunctions.

FREEZE-FRAME DATA. CHECKING FREEZE FRAME DATA
When the engine-ECU determines a malfunction and stores the diagnosis code, it stores a sensor input condition and control condition during malfunction detection for each detected diagnosis code.The data of this function is called freeze frame data.
Analyzing this freeze frame data with M.U.T.-III allows for efficient troubleshooting.The display items of freeze frame data are shown below/
When the Engine-ECU detects a problem and stores the resulting diagnosis code, the engine condition at that time is also memorized. The M.U.T.-III can then be used to analyze this data in order to increase the effectiveness of troubleshooting. The freeze-frame data display items are given below.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
This function exercises control, by predetermined control logic, to keep a condition in which a vehicle can be safely driven when main sensor failures are detected by the diagnosis function.

А в чем причина запроса?
Все ломаю голову над своей проблемой - писал с полгода назад. Машина не развивает полную мощность. Двигатель и вариатор в порядке. Трансмиссия тоже.
Т.е. где-то 3,2 атм.
